Group to provide free consultation services and assist first 500 qualified applicants with their U.S. citizenship application process
DALLAS, TX (February 26, 2015) On Saturday, March 21, Catholic Charities Dallas and Proyecto Inmigrante ICS will offer a free, city-wide citizenship workshop beginning at 9 a.m. at Mountain View College. The workshop, intended to bolster the efforts of many, Dallas-based aspiring Americans working to achieve U.S. citizenship, will offer FREE assistance with the application process for the first 500 qualified applicants.
The innovative partnership strives to help Dallas’s aspiring Americans overcome barriers to becoming citizens and achieve naturalization.
“Becoming a U.S. citizen can change your life and there’s no better time to act than now,” said Luis Miguel Arango, citizenship program manager at Catholic Charities Dallas. “Citizens have increased opportunities for higher paying jobs, opportunity to reunite with family members and additional rights, including the right to vote.”
Workshops like these show the local community that there is assistance available and that the New Americans Campaign is there to lend a helping hand through its network of partners and service providers.
“The only person who cannot be deported is a United States citizen and this ‘mega’ citizenship workshop is an opportunity to take advantage of, because even if you don’t have the resources to pay for the naturalization process, you could qualify for a fee waiver,” said Douglas Interiano, CEO of Proyecto Inmigrante ICS, Inc.
The workshop will take place at Mountain View College - East Foyer, 4849 West Illinois Ave. Dallas, TX 75211. Applicants are encouraged to visit www.ccdallas.org/citizenship or www.proyectoinmigrante.org for additional information.
